Fostering San Mateo County’s Small Business Ecosystem

Post

Small businesses are an important ingredient for neighborhood health, and access to commercial lease support helps ensure small businesses remain a vibrant and stable part of our communities. To build local capacity around this issue, Get Healthy SMC partner the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights (LCCR) recently released a commercial lease template and held two workshops for local entrepreneurs and service providers. The commercial lease template helps business owners and community organizations understand the terms and best practices for promoting stability and financial well-being. LCCR also partnered with Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center to provide a Business Law Basics workshop, where a local attorney provided entrepreneurs with legal education. LCCR helped build the bench of lawyers providing commercial lease support to local entrepreneurs with their “Commercial Lease Basics” workshop in East Palo Alto and is exploring other partnerships in Daly City. In addition to their capacity building work, LCCR continues to offer free legal services for low-income entrepreneurs, which can be accessed by visiting their website.
