HPP Moving Forward

Staff Perspective Tamarra Jones

There are so many exciting things to look forward to in 2023. HPP, in collaboration with various partners, has accomplished so much in 2022. A few highlights include:

  • Developed a foundation to enhance equity infrastructure
  • Initiated a community collaboration process
  • Fostered a partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education to support safe, in-person instruction
  • Installed of high-visibility crosswalks and curb ramps in South San Francisco
  • Distributed of 150 bikes and helmets to 4th and 5th graders from Spruce Elementary
  • Provided of nutrition education and food tasting to over 275 students in three school districts
  • Hosted four Spanish language events for parents and members of school community to address the impact of the pandemic
  • Supported Redwood City School District with training school staff on Restorative Justice Practices

We start 2023 off with new team members and several staff promotions (see Meet Our Staff). For 2023, we are excited to continue our community collaboration work with the release of the 2023 Get Healthy San Mateo County Request for Proposals and subsequent contracts. We will also begin a new strategic planning process. We look forward to working with our partners to highlight and prioritize strategies for the next five years. My hope is to continue to build on the lessons learned and feedback received to more effectively address the community need. Our focus will center health equity in all we do.
