The Health Policy and Planning (HPP) team came together on March 14-15, 2023 to increase connectedness in our work and gain a better understanding of our shared mission. A playlist of inspirational songs, curated by the team, served as the background for our retreat activities. The team participated in art visioning, sharing of strengths and skills, and articulating our shared mission and purpose. The retreat also provided an opportunity for the team to come together and discuss how we best collaborate with and serve the community. Important themes identified: 

• Embedding equity in our work 
• Identifying policies and practices that positively impact social determinants of health 
• Empowering communities to achieve equitable outcomes  
• Importance of multi-sector and community collaboration 

Next steps from the retreat include the development of an HPP specific mission statement.
