Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition Summit

Post

On August 8th, the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition (SVBC) held their 7th annual summit. The event was attended by more than 200 participants. The convening was an opportunity for anyone working on or interested in increasing, improving, or supporting biking throughout the Bay Area. The keynote speaker, Tamika Butler, opened the day with her presentation entitled Transportation Advocacy as Anti-Oppression Work, and it set the tone for the other presentations, speakers, and discussions to consider racial equity in their work. The remainder of the day was filled with breakout sessions, where our community health planner, Heather Arata, presented research on Get Healthy SMC’s equity analysis of Safe Routes to Schools.
