New Mental Health Tool to Help Students

Post

A year into the pandemic, we are starting to get more concrete data on the impact that it has had on our children. The social isolation that many are experiencing is having dire consequences on youth mental health. Recent research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that youth visiting the Emergency Room for mental health-related issues is up 30% for youth age 12-17 over the same period last year. As we continue to address the pandemic, we must be aware of the impact on our young people and reach out to them when we recognize any potential issues arising. The San Mateo County Office of Education has partnered with several key stakeholders to make Care Solace, a mental health navigation tool, available to anyone in the San Mateo County schools community.
