Join a Walk Audit in San Mateo County!

Post

Health Policy and Planning (HPP) and the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE) are hosting walk audits at five elementary schools throughout San Mateo County. Walk audits are an opportunity for school staff, city planners, law enforcement, public health, and parents and partners to walk the perimeter of a school to identify barriers to safe walking and biking.  Being able to safely walk and bike to school supports student’s physical activity and improving the area for walking and biking makes it safer for all users. This year the audits will be held three South San Francisco elementary schools, one elementary school in Pacifica, and one elementary school in Half Moon Bay. Anyone interested in walking and biking safety in these communities is welcome to attend, as well as anyone interested in learning more about hosting a walk audit at their school. The schools included are: Spruce Elementary and Sunshine Gardens Elementary on March 16th, Martin Elementary and Sunset Ridge Elementary on March 18th, and El Granada Elementary on March 18th. Please see the links for the schools for RSVP information. If you would like a flyer for any of the events, available in English and Spanish, please contact HPP community health planner Heather Eastwood (harata@smcgov.org).
