How California is Working to Achieve Vision Zero

Post

At all levels of government, traffic safety has been identified as a crucial public health issue that is disproportionately impacting vulnerable populations such as low income, young people and older adults. Cities across the County such as Daly City, Menlo Park, San Mateo and East Palo Alto have championed a Vision Zero approach to address the issue by making a commitment to eliminate traffic deaths. Last month, the state published a series of recommendations, then followed up with exploring state legislation (A.B. 2121) on how to achieve this goal for California communities. We are thankful for local resources such as Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition’s Vision Zero Toolkit that are being used to ensure healthy equitable communities in San Mateo County.
