COVID19 Vaccine Efforts Underway

Post

The County is working hard to overcome barriers to COVID-19 vaccinations for those that are eligible through the state eligibility requirements. We have been vaccinating healthcare workers, those 65 years and older, and just this week, adding on essential workers in the education, childcare, food/agricultural arenas, and emergency responders. We held mass vaccination sites at the San Mateo Event Center and San Francisco International Airport, smaller sites at our primary care clinics in Daly City, North Fair Oaks, and Half Moon Bay, and allocated our vaccine supply to Ravenswood Family Health Center in East Palo Alto, NEMS in north county, Stanford clinic in Redwood City, among others. We are also experimenting this week with community-based sites, mobile sites, and on-farm testing. The goal is to continue to identify ways to overcome the many barriers to COVID-19 vaccine. It’s remarkable that the vaccines have only been available for a couple of months now and we have been able to build a massive operation for outreach and vaccinations. We have a long ways to go but we are learning, experimenting, and improving each time.
