COVID-19 Impacts on Low-Income Workers and Businesses in SMC

Post

San Mateo County Recovery’s website has expanded its data portal to include data on the job losses experienced by low-income workers since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and where businesses have permanently closed. The county has lost 20,000 low-income jobs, with close to half of these comprising the accommodation and food services industry. Data also shows which census tracts have faced the largest number of business closures. As San Mateo County continues to implement its economic recovery strategies, this data will be critical in targeting strategies to populations and areas that have been hardest hit.  Please see the following link for more info: https://www.smcgov.org/smc-recovery-initiative
