CA Governor Provides Guidance for Reopening Schools

Post

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended all aspects of our daily life, and education is no different. San Mateo County schools continue to work diligently with SMC Health and the California Department of Education to identify the safest way to resume education in the fall. On Friday, July 17th,  Governor Newsom provided the Pandemic Plan for Reopening. Schools located in counties that are on the State’s Monitoring List must not reopen for in-person instruction until their county has come off the Monitoring List for 14 consecutive days. San Mateo County is currently on the monitoring list. As the school year gets closer districts are having to make difficult decisions based on how the pandemic is affecting their communities. The San Mateo County Office of Education has created a webpage with resources to support educators as they resume teaching in the fall. Educators will continue to adapt to these new circumstances and will be working to ensure that students educational and social-emotional needs are being met.
