There are nine vacant seats on multiple County of San Mateo boards and commissions. There are 15 vacant seats on the newly formed Equity Advisory Committee of the California Transportation Commission.

County of San Mateo: There are a total of nine vacant seats on multiple boards and commissions such as the Domestic Violence Council, the Commission on the Status of Women, and Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Commission. Deadlines are quickly approaching; apply today!

The Domestic Violence Council has two member-at-large positions; one nonprofit position; one SMC Bar Association & member of the Private Defender Program. The Council was formed to evaluate, make recommendations and initiate activities regarding: current responses of law enforcement, the judicial system, health care services and community resources; local government efforts to reduce domestic and family violence; public awareness and public education necessary to effect prevention activities; the collection of statistics and data; the adequacy of federal, state and local laws; and the need for services for those who are victims of domestic and family violence. Deadline to apply is September 2.

Commission on the Status of Women:  Two vacancies now and one vacancy to start January 2023 are available. The mission of the Commission on the Status of Women is to improve the quality of life for women of all ages in San Mateo County. Through strategic partnerships and collaboration, the commission identifies women’s needs, advises the Board of Supervisors, and educates the community on matters concerning women. Deadline to apply is September 16.

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Commission: There are three vacancies on the commission which works to improve the quality of life and well-being of LGBTQ County residents. Deadline to apply is September 16.

 

California Transportation Commission: There are 15 vacant seats for the new Equity Advisory Committee.  The Committee is intended to elevate diverse and historically marginalized voices to advise our agencies on how to achieve meaningful outcomes in transportation equity, environmental justice, and equitable economic opportunities, especially as related to transportation planning and programming. Deadline to apply is September 2 at 11:59 p.m.
