A Better Medi-Cal is Coming

Post

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is proposing changes to Medi-Cal through an initiative called CalAIM: California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal. The proposal addresses many complex challenges facing Californians that were also raised by community members in the CCCS process: insufficient access to behavioral health care, homelessness, inequity and more. It allows non-clinical interventions, services and supports for patients whose social needs are a barrier to improved health and overall wellness.

Through the CCCS process we heard loud and clear that families need a full complement of housing, economic, mental health and service navigation supports to raise successful children. Our eyes are on the CalAIM proposal to seed some of those solutions.
