Apples From Farm to School
Students at Taft Elementary School in
Redwood City had to the opportunity to sample Pink Lady Apples
purchased from a local farm during their lunch time.
Offering samples of locally grown foods students learn about
procurement, and new foods that are healthy for them and
delicious. Students voted if they loved, liked or did not
like the apple. The results help food service directors
decide what to add to the rotation of menus throughout the school
year. The apples were a great hit! Try adding apples to a
healthy treat or your
morning oatmeal with these recipes.
