California is facing a crisis with a shortage of quality teachers in specialized areas with those proficient in these areas are seeking out higher paying jobs in the tech industry. A California state lawmaker is hoping to make teacher credentialing easier and more affordable. The proposed Assembly Bills 169 and 170 would establish a $20,000 grant program over four years for students enrolled in teaching credential programs specializing in math, science, and special education and repeal the need to take a one-year credential program after completing an undergraduate program. Learn more about these bills here.
