Nutrition and Education Policy Specialist
Gloria supports the CalFresh Healthy Living Program by leading the San Mateo County Park Rx (prescription) program, and the Champion Provider Fellowship. She works with providers, parks and public land partners to create healthy environments that promote healthy lifestyles by focusing on safe spaces to be physically active, in addition to addressing inequities in access to nature in the county’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-eligible communities. As Co-Chair of the San Mateo County Healthy Parks Healthy People Collaborative (SMC PHPH), she ensures the Park Rx program’s sustainability and infrastructure. Gloria also works with four Champion Provider Fellows who share her passion to improve the health of their communities beyond the clinic setting. With their expertise and respected voices, the fellows support local policy, systems and environmental (PSE) changes, focusing on key initiatives such as nature as therapy and food medicine. With over 20 years of experience in Public Health Nutrition Gloria is deeply rooted in the community and uses her expertise to create strong partnerships and lead effective programs to engage communities and affect PSE changes.
