Updates to Accessing Federal Stimulus Payments for Mixed-Status Households

Post

New information has been released regarding accessing the COVID-19 federal stimulus payment for mixed-status households.  Previously, a household that had joint filers, but only one had a social security number (SSN), was not eligible for the first round of federal stimulus checks under the CARES Act. However, this policy has since been revised in the latest stimulus relief package. Family members with SSNs in mixed-status households can now qualify to receive payments. This change is retroactive, allowing family members who did not receive the first stimulus payment to apply for the rebate when they file their 2020 tax returns.  For more information, please click on the handout in English and Spanish shared by CCCS partners, as well as the links below.
