Striving for Safer Streets in East Palo Alto

Post

As part of the SMCOE School Travel Fellowship (STF), a walk audit took place at Cesar Chavez Ravenswood Middle School in East Palo Alto. The event was led by Alta Planning + Design and brought together a diverse group, including school staff, city engineers, community members, SMCOE Safe Routes to School, city council members, and San Mateo County Health. Together, the group walked around the school to look at how students get to and from school and to spot any safety issues. The information we gathered will help the STF team choose a temporary project to test ways to make walking and biking to school safer.
