Local Tenants Experiencing Evictions During the Pandemic

Post

Around 1,500 families have been evicted from Westlake Apartments during the pandemic, a large apartment complex located in Daly City. In response, a group of tenants have been organizing with the support of Faith In Action Bay Area to ask the City to guarantee the rental protections that were enacted by the Federal and State governments during the pandemic to ensure people have a stable home. On April 12, the Council of Daly City adopted the resolution “Right to Stay Home” which encourages landlords and tenants to apply for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program that distributes funds to help landlords and tenants cover unpaid rents related to COVID-19. Housing stability is vital to control the spread of COVID-19 and lower death tolls. For rent relief information, please visit here.
