Local Report Connects Student Housing Instability to Lower Educational Outcomes

Post

2,600 public school students from San Mateo County are experiencing housing instability and that impacts their school performance, according to a recent report released by the John W. Gardner Center for Youth and their Communities.  As jurisdictions seek feedback on their housing elements in the coming months to plan for the housing needs of the next ten years, the findings of this report are a good reminder to include policies that encourage cross-sectoral collaborations between local jurisdictions, school districts, and youth-led and serving organizations to ensure that all kids have a stable home.
