Displacement in San Mateo County: A New Report

Post

A recent report from UC Berkeley’s Center for Community Innovation shows the impact of displacement in San Mateo County. The report found those displaced were often forced to make difficult and precarious trade-offs in healthy and safe housing conditions or had to move far away. One in three households reported some period of homelessness or marginal housing and displacement was a significant disruption and source of trauma for study respondents and their children. There are numerous health implications associated with displacement as households face fewer job opportunities, increased environmental concerns, and the exposure of trauma to children.
