CCCS Efforts Underway to Expand Social-Emotional Supports and Critical Resources for Youth and Families

Post

We are excited to share an update on the work CCCS partners have engaged in to increase supportive services for youth and families in San Mateo County.  Earlier this year, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, in partnership with County Health’s CCCS team received a $100,000 Google Impact grant to advance key CCCS priorities in: 1) supporting the social-emotional health and wellness of youth and families of highest need in San Mateo County,  and 2) increasing their access to critical resources.  Partners met over the summer and developed the following three projects which are now being funded:

1) Provide a community of practice for family navigation staff at Big Lift preschools and elementary schools throughout the county to strengthen their capacity in addressing the socio-economic needs of students through systems navigation.

2) Expand mental health services for families and youth at General Pershings public pre-school and TK program within Jefferson Elementary School District in Daly City.

3) Work with Peninsula Family Services to expand family support services and student learning hubs provided by the Leo J Ryan programs for preschool-aged youth and TK-5th graders in South San Francisco.

We will continue to share updates as this work gets underway!  For more information, please contact Shireen Malekafzali, smalekafzali@smcgov.org
