Addressing Food Insecurity in San Mateo County
The COVID-19 Pandemic has continued to increase food insecurity in communities across the country, and San Mateo County is no exception. The Second Harvest of Silicon Valley has continued to work tirelessly to meet the exponential increase in demand for food resources. They have doubled the number of people served in San Mateo County to over one hundred and fifty thousand individuals and over 11 million pounds of food to the community per month. As we hope to have the end of the pandemic in sight, there is a recognition that the need for food assistance will continue on in the years to come as individuals work to emerge from debt accrued during the pandemic.
